Thornebrooke Elementary School Reviews

Both my boys attended Thornebrooke. The teachers and staff truly care about their students. It's a warm caring environment and it's been the best experience. My one son is in their ESE program, which has been a God send for any child on the Austism Spectrum. Best school ever. The teachers are just fantastic!

Being new to the area and to Florida, I was initially apprehensive, especially after hearing other parents moan and groan about the education system in FL. Therefore I was pleasantly surprised with the academic levels at Thornebrooke. My little Kindergartener is taught more than what I expect for Kindergarten, and continually challenged and encouraged. The teachers are all really great; kind and caring. The other nice thing about this school is that it has the community / neighborhood feel. A number of students are children of nearby small business owners, the teachers, who themselves live in the community, etc. Even the very excellent crossing guard has grandkids in the school! This translates to lots of support for the school from the surrounding community. Parents with kids who transferred in also believes this is one of the best schools their kids have attended. Definitely recommended!

There should be more extracurricular activities. Golf was great! What about art club? computer club? etc... teachers are patient and kind and most go out of their way to make sure each child understands and comprehends.

This is the only elementary school in the Windermere area that I would even consider sending my children to. My older child attended K through 2 at another Windermere Elementary school, and I have to say that Thornebrook is a million times better. The parents are more involved and the teachers actually care about their students. The gifted program is fantastic! It is a full day pull-out style program for children with advanced learning abilities. In addition to regular classroom work for all students, there is a rotating schedule for art, PE, computer lab, science lab, math lab, and performing arts. My younger child attended a prep school in Windermere for 2 years, and I took him out of that Windermere private school just so that he could attend Thornebrooke. If you are moving to the Windermere area, choosing this school is the only smart choice.

I loved this school for my kids and wish we still lived in this area. We were there in 2004-2005 school year and were very happy with the teachers, staff, and parent support. They are big on academics and even in Kindergarten had a lot of homework but after moving to another district I see just how beneficial that was. The teachers seem so devoted and really care about the kids. The PTA is great and the parents really care about education there. You will not be disappointed with this school. It is one of the best public schools I have ever been in and I have been in a lot due to my profession. (I never worked there though). Hope this helps

My Son has been here since he was in Kindergarten, when the school opened. Now he is in third grade, and I couldn't even imagine him at another school. It seems like his learning style is so advanced compared with his friends who attend other schools. Even when I was layed off from my job,the teachers and administration helped us with food at Easter time. I do everything I can now to donate my time and assistance for this wonderful caring school.

This is the best school my children have ever attended! We moved here a few years ago from a private school up north and were surprised at the academic integrity of Thornebrooke Elementary! My now 3rd grader 'looped' from 1st to 2nd grade and it was the best experience of her school career!

We have been at Thornebrooke since it opened and have been extremely pleased with all teachers and staff. We are happy that there is Library, PE, Music, Art and Computers offered as Special areas. The addition of a Math and Science lab this year has encouraged our son to explore these areas more. The teachers do a wonderful job of encouraging the students to excel and challenge them on all levels. The Administration works well with the PTA to provide the best environment for our children. Parental involvement is very high at Thornebrooke and it showes in our students levels on tests and academic skills. We also have an Autistic program that often intergrates children into the classroom settings. This is beneficial to both the Autistic child as well as the student population to teach acceptance of all children.

This school is attended by our friends' two children and the parents are very satisfied with the quality of education. They said this school was far better than the previous public school the kids attended. There seems to be a high level of parent involvement and it is a much sought after school.
